Concern over Lack of PE Hall in Bray Secondary School

The government was today slammed for not providing a new physical education
hall promised to the students and teachers of Loreto secondary school
in Bray. The failure to provide this facility was severely criticised
by Fine Gael Deputy, Billy Timmins.
`The go-ahead for the facility was given as part of the Government's
building programme for post primary schools but the Bray school has not
yet been given permission to seek tenders for the construction of the
new building', said Deputy Timmins.
He added that he recently brought the issue to the attention of Education
Minister Michael Woods and was told that the question of inviting tenders
will be considered as soon as possible under the expanded building programme.
`As far as I am concerned this is just another sign of the Government's
inability to get things done. This project is currently at stage five
in architectural planning but cannot proceed to the tendering process
until the go-ahead is given by the Government', he said adding that he
would soon be bringing it to the attention of the Education Minister again.
