Man Rescued in Glendalough

An incident in Glendalough yesterday evening resulted in a 65 year old man being airlifted to Tallaght hospital with minor injuries.
He had been walking on the Spink with his wife in the Glenaelo Valley area when he slipped on wet grass and suffered an ankle

injury. However, the man was in good spirits when a member of the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and a Ranger came to his aid.
Some hill walkers in the area, including a doctor, also assisted in the rescue.
Due to initial difficulties with the Irish Coastguard helicopter, further parties of rescue personnel from the Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue team and the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue team were ready at rescue base in case a stretcher carry-out was necessary.
