Two men are in custody following a daylight robbery at the Statoil Service Station in Wicklow town. The incident occurred in the early afternoon when two men walked into the station, brandished a knife and demanded money.
As they were making their getaway in the north Wicklow area with a small amount of cash, the Garda patrol car from Greystones came on the scene and a car chased followed.
They eventually stopped the vehicle and two men were arrested at the scene and taken to Bray Garda station for questioning.
In another incident on Monday night, a total of 122 tyres were stolen from the Shankill Tyre Centre and Gardai in both Shankill and Bray are anxious to hear from anyone with information about the incident.
According to Garda Declan Lynch, the Centre it is a family run business and the loss of 122 tyres can have a serious affect on them. `It is not easy to transport 122 tyres so someone may have seen suspicous movements in the Shankill/Bray area in the early hours of Tuesday morning', he added.
