Lotto Millions may have been won by large Arklow Family

By Tony Murphy
As speculation mounted throughout the day on the identity of the lucky
lotto winner who scooped a whopping E3.291 million in Paddy Kavanagh's
newsagents in Arklow last night, the latest is that the money was won
by a married local man who has six children.
It was the second time that the jackpot was won in Kavanagh's on the
Wexford Road. The last top winner bought a ticket there eight years ago
and while the cheque was collected and cashed, the identity of the winner
has never been established.
In a similar vein to eight years ago, rumours abounded around the town
all day with several names mentioned. One well known local man was cited
as being the winner but he confirmed to the media this afternoon that
it was neither him nor any member of his family.
According to a spokesperson in Kavanagh's shop this afternoon, they still
have no idea who won but said they had been informed by a national newspaper
that it was a local man with a family of six. However, the paper had not
been able to confirm this rumour.
Just like every lottery agent that sells the winner a few times, Paddy
Kavanagh can now expect to be inundated with lotto customers in the coming
months with people assuming that they have a better chance of winning
there.
