Council's Southern Cross Development Snubs Locals
November 18th, 2000
Adding to the many dissenting voices surrounding the proposed developments in and around the Southern Cross in Bray County Wicklow, Fina Gael Councillor George Jones has lent his weight to the arguments concerning safety and traffic flow proposals by Wicklow County Council for this already highly developed area.
Voicing his concern over the entire planning process councillor Jones went on to say, "While everybody agrees that that this major route must be improved; I feel that the present work that the council is doing here, is only geared to allow further major industrial projects like Spring Grove and Market Haven to go ahead.
In particular the existing 700 to 800 residents and the present industrial projects on the Southern Cross are been given no consideration. Councillor Jones argues that this is not acceptable and that in a planning project of this nature the concerns of a local community must be heard.
