Mainline Rosslare Train Services Curtailed

The Rosslare mainline service is still curtailed today with the inter-city train only running as far as Bray station due to the continuing mudslide problem on the Killiney section of the rail track. Passengers are being bussed to their end destination into the capital but are experiencing timetable problems with delays of up to one hour on the Rosslare train service. The Dart service between Greystones and Killiney is still out of service until crews can clear the tons of earth lying on that section of the track.
A spokesperson for Iarnrod Eireann said that they have a considerable amount of earthmoving

equipment at the site of the mudslide and are hoping to have the track cleared for the weekend. At present over fifty people are involved in the clearance operation with over one thousand tons of materials removed since the initial landslide. Boulders are been placed into position in an effort to stabilise the entire slip area and to stop any further landslides, thereby ensuring the safety of that section of line for all travelling on it.
