Last Sunday Gardai discovered the circulation of counterfeit ten-pound notes in Wicklow Town. The notes were first brought to their attention when a shop owner reported one after closing on Sunday night. Since then various traders in the town have discovered a total of four ten-pound counterfeit notes.

notes is of a low quality, has no water-mark, no silver strip and even that the head of James Joyce is smaller than on a real ten-pound note.
Although as of yet they do not have a description of the offender, the Gardai are warning traders and businesses that they have not seen the last of the counterfeits.
