More Driver Disruptions on Dart Service
December 22nd, 2000
Drivers on Dart trains are not all turning up for work at their designated stations with many of them reporting in sick and others refusing to work rest days because of what they point out are disagreements over roistering arrangements. This comes directly after the landslide stoppages on the Killiney section of the track and will severely hamper commuters and shoppers alike trying to get to and from work and do their last minute shopping.
The entire saga is another blow for Iarnrod Eireann's public relations campaign promising a

new and more efficient service for all on the national network and urban services such as the Dart serving Dublin and County Wicklow. The Drivers have been accused of dishonouring their recently signed agreement giving them £29,500 a year.
A spokesperson for Iarnrod Eireann stated that the company had been assured that drivers would meet their agreed operational commitments on rest days for an interim period while new drivers are being trained.
Further delays can be expected on all Dart services including those running in County Wicklow until the dispute is settled. Many commuters in the county are just dismayed at this action coming at this time of year and directly after the other recent stoppages. They feel that yet again the paying passenger is being held too ransom.
