Kilmacanogue to Roundwood Road Cause for Concern
Nobember 11th,2000
Local residents have voiced concerns over the condition of the road between Kilmacanogue and Roundwood, claims Independent Deputy Mildred Fox. In particular the section of the road near the village of Roundwood is reported as being very slippery and the speed at which people are driving on this stretch is adding to concerns for safety on what is already a very dangerous road.
The volume of traffic using the road has increased dramatically in recent times and Deputy Fox is approached regularly by local people asking what measures can be taken to make this route safer for residents and commuters alike. "From travelling this road regularly myself I am aware that there certainly is a problem with people travelling far to fast for such twisty roads" voiced Deputy Fox.
Deputy Fox will be contacting the County Engineer to voice the concerns of residents and will request that Wicklow County Council carry out an immediate evaluation to determine what measures should be established to make this route carrying so much traffic to Glendalough safer for residents and commuters alike. The Wicklow County Council area engineer was not available to comment on the council's behalf.
