Ambulance Crews Stage Protest
December 12th, 2000
Ambulance personnel staged an unofficial protest on Monday outside the headquarters of the East Coast Area Health Board in Bray against what the say is intimidation by management which has already led to the suspension of one of their colleges. Drivers staged the picket, which lasted for about 2 hours and eventually got to talk with Mr. Michael Lyons the chef executive of the East Coast Area Health Board.
Mr. Lyons promised to investigate the issue and it is hoped that the dispute can be resolved and will not escalate into a bigger problem. Ambulance drivers claim that their colleagues at Loughlinstown hospital are being mistreated and intimidated by management.
