(October 23, 2000)

Leah Coyne of the County Wicklow Arts Office officially opened the celebrations congratulating all involved in the project and praising the content and quality of the publication.

the reader she makes the very valid point that you are never too old to begin writing, as shown by the society's oldest members Phyllis Brown and Joe Nolan. Praise was also extended to the Arklow Arts Centre whose patronage allows the group to meet once a fortnight for the purpose of letting members read their works in an informal setting.

The publication is entitled ALPS 2000 Poetry Collection (ALPS is an acronym for the Arklow Literary Poetry Society). All of the authors live in Arklow or the surrounding district. The publication retails at £3 and the proceeds go directly towards the society's next publication and associated incurred expenses. Copies can be bought in the Arklow Arts Centre at 29 Main Street, Arklow County Wicklow or by emailing arklowarts@Eircom.net.
